This is the Foreshock; The Earthquake is Yet to Commence

Please, permit me to read an excerpt of an event that took place very early in the 20th Century, as culled from the internet:
At 5:12 a.m. on April 18, 1906, a foreshock hit San Francisco. However, it offered just a quick warning, for massive devastation was soon to follow. Approximately 20 to 25 seconds after the foreshock, the large quake hit. With the epicenter near San Francisco, the entire city was rocked. Chimneys fell, walls caved in, and gas lines broke. Asphalt that covered the streets buckled and piled up. Many people didn't have time to even get out of bed before they were killed by falling debris.

The earthquake lasted for approximately 40 to 60 seconds. Almost immediately, fires broke out across the city from broken gas lines and stoves that had fallen over during the shaking. The fires spread ferociously across San Francisco. Unfortunately, most of the water mains had also broken during the quake and the fire chief was an early victim of falling debris. Without water and without leadership, it's amazing the city was able to get the fires under control in just four days. However, massive amounts of damage had already been done.

The quake and subsequent fire left more than half San Francisco's population homeless, destroyed 28,000 buildings, and killed approximately 700 to 3,000 people.

The quake ruptured a total of 290 miles of the earth's surface along the San Andreas Fault, from northwest of San Juan Bautista to the triple junction at Cape Mendocino. Though most of the damage was focused in San Francisco (a large part because of the fires), the quake was felt all the way from Oregon to Los Angeles.

What happened in San Francisco was clearly a tragedy. And when the matter was further investigated, it was discovered that years of unrestrained and avaricious prospecting (or digging) for gold was the remote cause of the earthquake because the earths plates had shifted as a result, thus giving rise to the devastation that followed.

The events that took place over 100 years ago in San Francisco have a significant bearing on the economic events of our time. What do I mean? Years of unrestrained borrowing by governments in a quest for prosperity, based primarily on the greed of men in position of authority have given rise to the economic earthquake being witnessed around the world today. So devastating is the impact of this economic upheaval that nations which once prided themselves as economic powers now have to grapple with the reality of the effect of indiscriminate borrowing and the ostentation of its leaders. What is perhaps fascinating as we look at the leaders of nations of the world, is the lies they keep telling, backed by their economists, that by cutting back on spending, they will be able to deal with their economic situation. They neatly make no reference to the years of unrighteous living and greed in the hearts of men. Capitalism has come full circle, and is unraveling at an alarming rate! A few years on, the fires that the financial earthquake sparked, is still burning all around the world.

But our interest in todays broadcast is not really of the devastation and environmental woes that befell San Francisco, neither is it of the socio-economic carnage that have befallen the nations of the world today. Our interest is in the events which we are witnessing among a group of people who call themselves Christians and their leaders; of which we are included in every respect!

We are witnessing unprecedented events of epic proportions in our generation that was never before witnessed in any other generation. What do I mean by this? Christianity today has been given new clothing, which is really no clothing, for it exposes the nudity and absurdity of the lies that is being told to millions all over the world. For example, there is a message of prosperity that has filled the land, airwaves, and the online community with such ferocity, it is unimaginable that anyone would claim to be called a Christian, if he is poor, unable to afford a meal, unable to afford a car, a home, be of marriageable age and is unmarried, is not yet with child having been married for a number of years, and so on! So ferocious is this message of prosperity that many churches have become Business Schools, where they unfortunately do not teach ethics, but greed and ostentation! This message of prosperity is so jarring to the spiritual nerves that social issues and speeches that motivate a person to seek to become who he wants to become and to acquire anything that can be acquired, have become the order of the day. We are no longer hearing messages that challenge Christians to moral uprightness, integrity from a pure heart, and the true biblical teachings on becoming who God wants you to become. There are pastors, bishops, and church leaders alike, who pride themselves in the ownership of mansions and private jets; who preach a gospel that has nothing to do with the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord; and, who lead congregations that dont look anything like our Lord Jesus Christ intended when He came down to the earth to die for the sins of mankind! Title-seeking and hob-knobbing with the so-called high and mighty is the order of the day among these people who call themselves Christians and their leaders. The truth is, the version of Christianity on display today is enough to cause the Head of the Church, the Lord Jesus to throw-up, and it is no surprise that many of these so-called Christians and church leaders have actually been thrown-up by the Lord Jesus; for He said in Revelation 3:15-16, I know what you have done; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. How I wish you were either one or the other! But because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am going to spit you out of my mouth! There was a time when you could tell a person who is, as we used to say, on fire for God. Now, it is just a clich, because those who make the claim are neither hot nor cold!

Like the San Francisco event of 1906, there is a foreshock which has come as a warning to all those who say that they are Christians, so that when the earthquake itself comes, they will be prepared and ready to withstand it, and not be devastated. We are told in Hebrews 12:26-27, Once again, I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also. This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only the unshakable things will remain. There is coming a spiritual earthquake, but as has always been the case in the history of Gods people, warnings of impending divine judgments always fall on deaf ears! In the Books of Exodus and Numbers, God, through Moses, gave the children of Israel (who had only recently been freed from the shackles of slavery and the bondage of Egypt), precepts to walk and live by, but they would not. In fact, on many occasions they erred, and God warned them not to do so again. But they remained obstinate and kept on sinning against God. Finally, it got to a head, when God asked them to enter into the Promised Land, and they refused. They probably thought that it was one of those times when God would just warn them and everything would return to normal. They were terribly mistaken! This time, there was not going to be another opportunity given. In an instant, Gods judgment fell on the nation of Israel in the wildernessall those who were 20 years and above were not going to enter the Promised Land, except for Caleb and Joshua, because of the spirit which was in them (the spirit which trusted God absolutely regardless of the things which they saw with their eyes). No amount of intercession by Moses this time around was going to make God look the other way. Then, after God had taken the younger generation into the Promised Land, they also began to misbehave, just like their fathers before them. They were again warned several times about the consequence of their actions, but they wouldnt listen. Finally, God got the nations of Assyria and Babylon to come and take His own people into exile, where they remained for decades. God kept warning His people through His appointed prophets, but they would rather listen to their self-styled and self-appointed prophets, who really were false prophets. Finally, they went into exile, away from the land God had given to them! Years after the children of Israel returned from exile, they once again began to go about their own ways and shunned Gods word. Even when the Lord Jesus Christ warned them while He was with them on earth, they refused to listen. The immediate result was the destruction of Jerusalem and the sacking of its inhabitants by the Romans in 70 A.D.

Today, we have Gods word as documented in 1 Peter 4:17 ESV, For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God Many people who are in church today, may never have heard that there is impending judgment on the household of God by the God of the house. Many more may never have read Hebrews 12:29 either which states that our God is a consuming fire, neither Hebrews 10:31, which states that It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God., nor have their pastors and church leaders told them what God Himself said in Deuteronomy 32:39, I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal It is true that God is full of love and mercy; but it is equally true that God is a God of justice and judgment. He is full of grace; but he is also full of truth. You cannot live as you like and then turn around and say, What of the grace of God? Well, I have news for youthe word of God says in Romans 6:1-2, What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! [God forbid!] How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? How can you, having been freed from the shackles of sin, the bondage of the flesh, and the stranglehold of the world, turn around and live therein again, and then justify your inordinate lifestyle by laying a claim to grace? Perhaps it is because you do not have a proper perspective on the subject of grace. One particular scripture in the bible makes clear the subject of grace. Titus 2:11-13 tells us that the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ

Friend, any message of grace that does not teach you to deny ungodliness and worldliness is a disgraceful message and is not from God! Any message of grace that does not teach you to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age, is equally a disgraceful and defective message and definitely not from God! And, any message of grace that does not encourage you to look forward to the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, is not only disgraceful, but appalling and embarrassing to the name of Jesus Christ, and most certainly not from God. It is true that a Christian is a person who is saved by grace, but the proof of salvation by grace is in the works of righteousness which he manifests as he lives daily in this world.

Let us pause for a little bit and ask quite honestly, Have you taken the grace of God for granted? Is it possible that you are living a life that has no care for God, other than that, you want God to do everything for you, whereas you are doing only the things you want, not what God wants? Are you living a lie, pretending to be holy, while engaging in sinful acts? Like the San Francisco earthquake, which came with a foreshock, we are seeing a foreshock in the Church of the living God today. The bible warns in 2 Timothy 3:14:4, that in the last days, perilous times will come, people will act in direct opposition to the word of God, and they will not endure sound and wholesome teachings of the word of God, but will heap unto themselves, teachers who will tell them what they like to hear.

Just look around and observe the happenings in Christendom, and you will see the result of the foreshock: Some pastors are getting divorced and remarrying, and still claim to speak for God, twisting the Scriptures in the process to suit their purpose. Some Christians and their leaders alike are involved in fornication, adultery, homosexualism, lesbianism, prostitution, and even bestiality on a scale that would make Sodom and Gomorrah look like a righteous nation in comparison. Some other Christians are stealing public funds, making donations to churches and communities, and living big on such stolen wealth, while being applauded by church leaders as givers to the work of God. Who told you that God receives stolen money? Many of the people who sit in the front rows of many churches are the same people who are leaders in the occult, and in some cases their church leaders know but look the other way! Church attendance has become the only yardstick for measuring who a Christian is; not his lifestyle! You can live like the devil every day; just make sure you enter a church service on a Sunday, even if you do so while they are saying, The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us now and forever more, Amen and it is good enough. The church has become an entertainment centre where people go to, in order to be entertainedso we no longer worship God, but we sing and dance to songs for our own amusement; we no longer give an offering to God out of love for Him, but we give offerings for what we hope to get in return multiplied a hundredfold; and God help the pastor who does not pray fervently over the offering so that it can yield the expected results of a hundredfold return in a matter of hours! Church is now the hunting ground for those playboys and call-girls who want to get married, while continuing in their lifestyle of sin. Hear what God said in Jeremiah 5:30-31, A horrible and shocking thing has happened in this landthe prophets give false prophecies, and the priests rule with an iron hand. Worse yet, my people like it that way! But what will you do when the end comes?

Well, Truly these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now [He] commands all men everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30 NKJV). Today is that day of repentance. Now is the acceptable time of repentance. Dont wait for one more second, the grace and forgiveness of God is here to bring you back to God; but you must first of all forsake your wicked ways and turn to God. This call is alike, to those who have been living under the illusion of a Christianity that does not require living for God, as well as those who may not even know God at all. This is the day that the good news of the kingdom of God is being released afresh unto all men. Please lay hold on this opportunity for repentance unto God today, before the earthquake which is shortly to follow commences.

Let us pray!
