The Boy Who Wanted to See The Queen

The story is told of a young boy who, in England, wanted to meet with the queen. In his quest, he went to Buckingham palace to observe how people went in. He noticed that all those who went in were well dressed, and that upon approaching the gates, the gates were opened, and after a brief formality, they were ushered into the palace.

Armed with this observation, the boy went back home, washed and ironed his best clothes, polished his shoes, and was set to meet with the queen. He then proceeded to Buckingham palace, but on getting to the gate, he was asked for his name. This rattled him, because his observations did not prepare him for this. He thought all he needed to do was appear before the sentry well dressed, and he would be let in. The sentry looked into the visitors book and of course, not finding the boys name, told him he could not proceed further, and ordered him to leave the premises.

The boy left the premises, but stood nearby crying. About this time, another boy, older, and in his teens, approached him, and asked why he was crying. He told the teenage boy that he wanted to see the queen but would not be let in by the sentry. The teenage boy comforted the young boy, and asked him to follow him. As they both approached the gates, much to the young boys surprise, no one stopped them. On entering into the palace, the teenage boy led the younger boy through a number of corridors, until finally, they arrived at a door. The teenage boy knocked on the door, opened it, ushered the young boy into the room, and announced, Mum, theres a little boy who wants to see you! You see, the young boy had been ushered right into the queens bedroom by the queens son! How exciting it was for the young boy!

This story depicts how, many people will be shocked when they depart this world; and discover that their thoughts about God, heaven, and how to get in, were completely wrong. Many will discover that they had followed falsehood all their lives thinking that they were on the right track to a life of eternal bliss in paradise.

Like the little boy in our story, the first shocker these people will receive will be the fact that good deeds will not open the gates of heaven unto them. Some people say, I am not bad, because I dont smoke, drink, nor am I promiscuous; thus believing that being good by their definition is the basis for entering into heaven. Some others believe that giving donations to religious and charitable organizations is what will ensure their eternity with God. Some others still, trump the fact that they have made valuable contributions to humanity, and this is their credential for entering into heaven. All these good deeds can be likened to the well ironed clothes of the little boy in our story. It did not help the young boy; neither will they usher us into heaven!

Similarly, many will be shocked to discover that God has a book, and that a persons name must first be written in that book before he can gain access into heaven. The bible records a scene in heaven as follows: And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide. I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before Gods throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds. Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15 (NLT).

There are two kinds of books: one is plural, while the other is singular. The plural, the books, are the volumes or files on each individual whose name is not written in the Book of Life. In them are documented, the activities of men on earth. The books contain everything people do on earth, whether it was done openly or secretly; knowingly or unknowingly. Just think about it: if men who are limited in resources can accurately capture, through video cameras erected on the streets in the United Kingdom, the movement of people; how much more the God Who created the Universe? In the United States of America, there is a terror watch list in which the names of suspected terrorists are written. If men can keep a record of people whose activities are suspect, how much more, the God of heaven and earth?

Then there is the singular book, also called the Book of life, which is distinct from the books. The Book of Life contains the names of those permitted into heaven. The good news is that if your name is listed in this singular book, all the books or files where your sinful deeds before coming to Jesus Christ were stored are destroyed, so that all that is recorded in the Book of Life is just your name. Those whose names are written in this book, have unimpeded access into heaven, and into the presence of God! Thus, the Lord Jesus Christ said to his disciples, in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. Luke 10:20 (KJV).

The question someone out there may be asking is, How do I get my name into this Book of Life? The answer is simple: Hand over your life to Jesus Christ! Just as the young boy was led right into the bedroom of the queen, because he literally entrusted his life to the teenage boy who took him into the palace to see the queen; so shall Jesus Christ the Son of God, lead you right into the eternal presence of God, if you will hand over your life to Him today. The Lord Jesus Christ said, In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:2-3 (KJV). All who hand over their lives to Jesus Christ, are those whom He will prepare a place for; and will come back to take them with Him to heaven. This implies that if Jesus Christ does not come for you when you die, you cannot enter into heaven.

I have heard of people who, when they were about to die, cried out bitterly for help, saying that they did not want to go with the people who had come for them at death. The people they were referring to are the messengers of Satan; that is, demons who had come to receive their own into hell. For anyone who has not handed over his life to Jesus Christ, and who is not living as God desires, has only one place reserved for him in eternity hell!

I have also heard of people who, on their death bed, told those around them that they had seen their transportation, with men dressed in pure white coming to receive them. These people requested that no tear be shed for them, rather, thanks be given to God on their behalf. They approached death with confidence and peace because they had entrusted their lives to Jesus Christ, Who had their names written in the Book of Life, and God honoured them by arranging their transportation and entry into heaven!

Have you been banking on your own idea of how you will enter into heaven? Are you thinking that it is just about going to church every Sunday or attending Jumat every Friday? Do you have the view that entering into heaven is based on giving alms to the poor, and to beggars? Do you believe the lie that if you kill in the name of God, seven or seventy virgins will be waiting for you to possess in paradise? Think again! Like the little boy in our story, you will be rudely shocked when you discover how wrong you were! These things (good deeds, attending religious meetings, killing in the name of God), cannot usher you into the presence of God. Only the Son of God can usher you into the presence of God!

Unlike the little boy in our story, who was found by the son of the queen after being denied entry into Buckingham palace; sadly, there will be no other way to make amends after one has died. For the bible says, that it is appointed unto man once to die, and after this comes judgment! In other words, once you are denied access into heaven when you die, you will not have another opportunity to make amends. The time to make amends and ensure your access into heaven is now! Now, is the time to entrust your life into the Hands of Jesus.

Do not believe those things you may have been told about entering into heaven without Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Dear friend, Gods plan is that all of humanity will be made right with Him, through Jesus Christ. As I end this broadcast today, I ask, When you die, who will be coming for you: The messengers of the devil, or, the Son of the Living God?

Let us pray!
